Flight Creative Media's drones are soaring to new heights in 2018! We're excited to announce that our Flight Crew has just been approved by the FAA for no-wait authorization to conduct aerial operations within Minneapolis / St. Paul Airspace.
This Wide Area Authorization eliminates the long wait previously required to green-light a flight within Class B and Class D controlled airspace. Prior to this authorization, we had to apply for permission each time we were looking to fly in a several-mile radius around airports. As you can see from the map, these zones cover major portions of the greater Twin Cities area.
Now that we're authorized for aerial ops in controlled airspace, without having to wait for approval for each flight, we have the freedom and flexibility to fly your drone mission in premium Twin Cities locations near iconic local landmarks.
The timing for this couldn't have worked out better, as Minneapolis ramps up preparations for Super Bowl LII, taking place in the newly constructed US Bank Stadium downtown.
Earlier this month, we used our newfound aerial freedom to capture some fly-by footage of the stadium. With this brief aerial video, we salute our fair Twin Cities for working tirelessly to meet the hefty demands of the Super Bowl.
Furthermore, we salute our Minnesota Vikings, whose sheer talent and tenacity have made them one of the strongest contenders all season, and a fearsome opponent to all who stand in their way. Let's keep those wins coming and #BringItHome – SKOL Vikings!
Areas shown on map represent all Class B and D airspace in greater Twin Cities area:
- Minneapolis St. Paul International (MSP)
- St. Paul Downtown (STP)
- Flying Cloud Airport (FCM)
- Crystal Airport (MIC)
- Anoka County-Blaine (ANE)
